President Snow had better watch his back, because The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is on its way this fall, and Katniss Everdeen is getting ready for a fight. With the Second Rebellion preparing to roll out from District 13, the reluctant heroine of the Hunger Games quadrilogy finds herself facing some tough choices as it’s revealed that Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) has seemingly been brainwashed by the Capitol, and some of the rebels of District 13 may not be entirely trustworthy.

Among the key members of the Second Rebellion are Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), Katniss’ old friend and member of the Peeta-Katniss-Gale love triangle; propaganda filmmaker Cressida (Natalie Dormer); and District 13 President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore). The first full trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 debuted earlier this week, around the same time as a Fandango poll named the movie as the most highly anticipated release of fall 2014.

The latest issue of The Hunger Games Exclusive includes a whole new batch of high-res promotional images and stills from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, as well as a Q&A with lead actor Jennifer Lawrence discussing what it’s like to play Katniss in the movies. Lawrence describes her new Mockingjay look, as well as her continued love for the Katniss character, as follows.

“[My outfit is] scary and very intense but feminine at the same time. It’s not the most comfortable costume in the world, but it’s utilitarian. [Katniss is] a dream character. She is the reluctant hero. She is constantly evolving and changing, so even though I play her in four movies, I never get bored.”

The Capitol’s reputation for creating outlandish fashion and hairstyles has been exploited both onscreen and offscreen, but Cressida’s hairstyle in particular stands out as being particularly awesome in these photos. It’s just as well that her job keeps her behind the camera, or there’s a good chance that she’d end up accidentally upstaging “the Mockingjay.”

For Katniss’ part, her role in the final novel of Suzanne Collins’ trilogy is largely involved with being a symbol for the rebellion rather than actually fighting, and the warzone scenes in the images are likely taken from the shooting of her first propaganda film – or “propo” – in District 8. Meanwhile, viral teasers for the movie have shown how Peeta will be manipulated by President Snow into being the face of Capitol propos.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is arguably the most difficult of the films in the Hunger Games series to get right, since it covers only the first half of one of the novels – and will largely be involved with just setting events in motion that will conclude in Mockingjay – Part 2. With Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence back onboard, however, there’s hope that the next Hunger Games installment will be part of a strong finish to the 2014 movie line-up.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 arrives in theaters on November 21st, 2014.
