New Moana Poster; Trailer #2 Debuts This Week

Following the theatrical release of Zootopia earlier this year, Walt Disney Animation Studios is gearing up for the premiere of its latest feature-length animated film, Moana, this fall. Starring voice actors Dwayne Johnson (Central Intelligence), Jermaine Clement (The BFG), and newcomer Auli’i Cravalho, the latest production from Disney is an original musical about ancient Oceania in the South Pacific, replete with a whole host of original songs co-written by Tony Award-winning actor and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda (creator of Hamilton).

Given the unprecedented success that has been lauded onto Disney’s animated films of late, (including Wreck-It Ralph in 2012, Frozen in 2013, Big Hero 6 in 2014 and Zootopia this year), Moana is shaping up to be another production that draws some significant attention at the box office later this November. What’s more, the latest movie poster has just been released online, with another trailer on the way shortly.

The new Moana poster (see below) further teases the film as being a beautifully-animated and fantastic adventures for families to enjoy. Moreover, according to Dwayne Johnson‘s posting on Twitter (where he unveiled the new poster), the actor revealed that he will be presenting the latest Moana trailer this Thursday on Good Morning America. You can check out that one-sheet, below:

Keeping the fact that Johnson will be playing the Polynesian demi-god Maui alongside Montinui Island native Moana (Cravalho) in the new movie, viewers can no doubt begin to expect plenty of big things from Moana when it finally sees theatrical release. Johnson has proven himself to be a more than capable A-list performer over the course of the past few years, and with any luck his latest venture as a voice actor will be another shining example of his stellar work ethic and charismatic screen presence.

As a first-time actor, Auli’i Cravalho will likely find herself in quiet the demanding position when Moana greets general audiences later this year; though with the help of such all-star co-leads like Johnson and Clement, the young actress will likely become a winning performer in her own right. Disney has yet to lead viewers very far astray with their most recent outpouring of original animated productions, and with any luck their latest film will be another remarkable accomplishment for the big screen worthy to stand beside such contemporary classics as Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, and Zootopia.

Moana will see theatrical release in the U.S. on November 23, 2016.
