Captain America: Civil War Submitted For Awards Consideration

Everyone chose a side before Captain America: Civil War burst its way into theaters. Team Cap and Team Iron Man discussions could be heard in passing and were seen all over social media. Even other Marvel characters like Luke Cage (Mike Coulter) weigh in on whose side they were on. Civil War was more than just another superhero film, with characters on both sides of Sokovia Accords having to seriously look at the pros and cons of what kind of impact a superhero registration act would have on heroes and the world at-large.

Captain America: Civil War was (not surprisingly) a huge box office success, pleasing fans and critics alike. The film was a summer staple, earning a whopping $1.1 billion during its worldwide box office release. Captain America: Civil War is one of very few franchise films that outperformed both films that came before it (The First Avenger, and Winter Soldier). The success trend continues as Civil War topped the Blu-ray and DVD release charts when it was released on September 13th.

Now Marvel is looking to break into a different market by officially submitting the film for awards season, according to ComicBook, with the first “For Your Consideration” screening held on September 23rd. TV has already had its night with the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards that were held on Sunday, September 18th; but awards season is just beginning with majors coming in January like Critics Choice, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, and the grandfather of them all, the Academy Awards in February.
